Overview

Compare what Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations gives a sales order with what it gives a transfer order, and the asymmetry is hard to unsee. The same goods, moving between your own sites, get a weaker process at every step:

  • You cannot cleanly cancel a transfer order, so people delete lines and the history disappears with them. In some countries the missing cancellation is a compliance problem, not just an inconvenience.
  • Freight and handling charges cannot be capitalized on the transfer line outside a single localization, so inter-site movement quietly understates inventory cost.
  • Financial dimensions do not flow the way finance expects, so reporting on inter-site movement means reconstruction after the fact.
  • There is no tolerance workflow for over- and under-receipts, so every routine discrepancy between sites becomes a phone call.
  • There are no customs documents for cross-border moves.

Multi-site businesses patch around all of this by hand: parallel spreadsheets, sales-and-purchase-order pairs between legal entities, manual journals to push freight into cost. Each workaround works until someone has to explain a variance, and none leaves an audit trail that survives a question six months later.

What Shuttle changes

Shuttle upgrades transfer orders to the footing sales and purchase orders already enjoy. Cancellation becomes a real operation with reason codes and an audit trail. Charges and freight are capitalized on the line, so moved stock carries its true cost. Financial dimensions apply at header and line and flow through to reporting. Over- and under-receipts are handled by a tolerance workflow between sites, so routine variances clear themselves and only genuine exceptions reach a human. Received transfer orders can be finalized and locked. And cross-border moves get a customs document pack.

The net effect is that the workarounds simply go away. The process works the way your team already expects an order process to work, because it now is one.

Shuttle is built by specialists who know the transfer-order internals and extend them cleanly, without destabilizing your shipments and receipts. It installs as a package into your own environment and is maintained across Finance & Operations releases.
