Overview

Lattice is the integration foundation for Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations. It puts one consistent surface in front of your environment so that external systems can drive transactions, read and write the data they need, and react to changes the moment they happen, without a custom build for every connection.

The problem it solves

Connecting anything to Finance & Operations usually means three separate build efforts. You write custom X++ services for every transaction you want to drive from outside. You hand-build data entities to get information out, then rebuild them when volume or an upgrade breaks them. And you schedule polling jobs that scan the database to notice when something changed. Each effort is designed, secured, tested, and maintained on its own, by the same scarce F&O developers everything else in your backlog is waiting on. The result is brittle, inconsistent, and expensive to change, and every new connection restarts the cycle.

How Lattice approaches it

Lattice replaces those three build efforts with one package built on three capabilities:

  • Integration operations put a consistent, idempotent REST surface in front of the transactions your business runs: posting for sales and purchase orders, journals, inventory, production, projects, and workflow, plus pull-based cloud file ingestion.
  • Data entities fill the gaps in the standard entity catalog with 132 purpose-built OData data entities, including writable contact and attachment entities, intercompany visibility, and change-tracked, high-performance inventory and product feeds.
  • Business events add 80 real-time business events, delivered over Event Grid, Service Bus, or HTTPS, so downstream systems react when a document posts or a status changes instead of waiting for the next polling cycle.

Because every operation shares one contract, your integrators learn the surface once and reuse that knowledge across posting, data, and events. There is one package to install and keep current, so there is far less custom code to break when Finance & Operations is updated. Push events replace database-hammering polling jobs, which takes real load off your production environment. And correlation IDs with audit logging on every call mean you can trace exactly what happened and prove it later, which finance systems demand.

You install Lattice into your own environment as a deployable package. It runs under your control, against your data, and is maintained across Finance & Operations releases.
