Get started

Ballast is free to run in any non-production environment, indefinitely. You pay only when it runs in production.

First deployment

  1. Sign in at magicite.tech with your Microsoft work account (your organization's Entra identity; there is no separate registration).
  2. Start a trial for Ballast, naming a non-production environment such as a sandbox, UAT, or development instance.
  3. Download the deployable package (a .zip file) from your account.
  4. Deploy it to the environment you named via Lifecycle Services or your usual Finance & Operations deployment tooling.
  5. Stage a draft against a parameter table you know well, compare it to the live values, and schedule it. Working against your own configuration, with no trial clock running, is the fastest way to judge the fit.

Ballast validates its license by contacting the Magicite licensing service, so allow outbound connectivity for that check.

tip

Review Compatibility before deploying so the package release matches your environment's version.

When you take it to production

Production deployments go through source control, like any other ISV package: add the Ballast package to your source control, include it in your build, and promote the resulting deployable package to production through Lifecycle Services or the Power Platform admin center.

Billing starts only when Ballast is detected in a production instance without a subscription, and you then have a 21-day grace window to subscribe. Enforcement is soft: you get warnings, not a hard block.

Pricing is flat: 6,000 USD per production instance per year, all features included, invoiced against a purchase order or paid by wire. No credit card is needed, and sandbox, UAT, and development environments never count.
